TAIWAN MOSS
SCIENTIFIC NAME: TAXIPHYLLUM ALTERNANS
COMMON NAME: TAIWAN MOSS, MINI TAIWAN MOSS
A rather fast-growing moss when compared to others. Its fronds grow into a triangular shape or Christmas tree pattern. It doesn't need high light, but under high light, it gets a beautiful coloration. This moss is almost impossible to distinguish from T. Barbieri, but under high light and CO2, it will branch more densely, and under a microscope, where T. Alternans is serated only around the tips of the very small leaves. Taiwan moss is ideal both in the aquarium on various hardscape materials and in the vivarium, encrusting manzanita, cork backgrounds, and other surfaces. To attach Taiwan moss, brown thread can be used to wrap it around wood pieces, or aquarium-safe superglue can be utilized.
