Palm tree fronds:

We love small, intricate details in an aquascape. Stuff like twigs really create an interesting aesthetic. We love to distribute bits and pieces of twigs here and there in the substrates of our botanical-style aquariums.

You'll find all sorts of uses for these cool twigs. If you look at many photos of the wild habitats from where our fishes come from, you'll see that the substrate is littered with bits of roots and other materials, which forms a complex "microhabitat", where fishes can forage and hide among.

SIZE: They're about (25-45cm)  in length on average, These fronds will leach little  tannins into the water, and are more for decorative purposes.

PREPARATION: You need to boil palm fronds for at least an hour (sometimes a bit more) to really saturate them, because they do float  when first immersed.

Origin: Sydney Australia

All our Australian Botanicals are pest and pollution free and are organically sourced.

All of our aquatic botanicals are intended for ornamental aquarium or terrarium use only. Please use common sense and take the time to boil or soak all botanicals prior to using them, to reduce the possibility of problems. Always go slow when introducing any botanicals into your systems, so you can judge the effect they have on your fishes and plants. They are not intended for human consumption. DO NOT INGEST!

NOTE: Due to natural variations of leaves, each one will appear different. The photo is a representation of what to expect.

Great additions to your aquarium

I just love these fronds, they really add an interesting look to my aquarium.
Palm trees are abundant in many places of the Amazon, particularly along the Rio Negro and it's tributaries.
I place them in my Biotope aquarium to add a more natural feel. They keep well, break down very slowly and look sensational.
As with all the botanicals from Blackwater Aquariums, they are first class.
