These unique pods are perfect for all sorts of aquatic applications! Actually, the dried fruit husk from the "Bael Tree", Aegle marmelos, they are reminiscent of the fruits and seed pods that fall into tropical streams and waterways. Aesthetically and functionally quite versatile. One of my favourite natural pods to use as spawning cave for Apistogramma species.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Due the structure of the bael pod some might crack once soaked, to prevent this as much as possible make sure the pod gets soaked in cold water DO NOT BOIL!!
SIZE: They vary in size, yet average around 4-5cm in diameter. These pods will leach some tannins into the water over the long term.
PREPARATION: You need to gently soak Badam Pods for at least an hour in cold water (sometimes a bit more) to really saturate them, because they do float when first immersed.
ORIGIN: Originally a native too SE Asia however we source ours from Sri Lanka
All our Australian Botanicals are pest and pollution free and are organically sourced.
NOTE: These are a natural product, and display variation in colour, size, and texture. Each pod is unique! The photo serves as a reasonable representation of what to expect.
