They are found along the Amazon River to the Tapajos River. This little fish is found in the lower Rio Negro River as well. Other common names they are known by are Torpedo Cichlid and Weise's Dwarf Cichlid\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThey primarily occur along shallow riverbanks with very soft acidic water.
